Join Us for the 2-Day Birding Getaway!

Birding enthusiasts you’re invited to a 2-day birding getaway at Shore Acres with Chip Darmstadt of FlyAway Birding. 

Located on 46-acres along the shores of Lake Champlain, Shore Acres offers great lakeside lodging, fine dining, and birding thrills.  Come see the Spring migration of birds, such as Ospreys, Warblers, Purple Martins, and more, returning to northern Vermont after a long winter elsewhere. The Missisquoi National Wildlife Refuge and many other birding hotspots along Lake Champlain are located within 30 minutes of the Inn.  

This event is limited to 10 people at $1199/person.  The package includes:

• 2-day birding tour led by birding guide extraordinaire Chip Darmstadt
• 2-night stay at our lakeside inn (continental breakfast included)
• One (group) dinner at our lakeside fine dining restaurant
• Transportation to/from offsite birding locations
• Early bird tours and presentation(s) on the property

If 2 days aren’t enough to enjoy the splendor of Spring in northern Vermont in May, consider extending your stay at Shore Acres Inn and Restaurant by taking advantage of the Inn’s “3 for 2” special (the special cannot be applied towards the birding tour package).  Our Bravo Zulu Lakeside Bar opens on Friday, May 16th for the season and Montreal, Quebec is only 1.5 hours away.

May 14-16, 2025

Shore Acres Inn and Restaurant, 237 Shore Acres Drive, North Hero, VT

Wednesday, May 14th

• 3pm: Check-in at Shore Acres. Call ahead to see if the room is available before 3pm for early check-in (not guaranteed).
• 5pm: Welcome Hour at Shore Acres Restaurant at First Responder’s Table (outside, weather permitting). One drink ticket included (beer, house wine, or soda).
• 7:30pm: Birding Presentation (1 hour) at the Shore Acres Farmhouse

Thursday, May 15^th

• 6am: Early Bird Tour on property (optional)
• 7am: Breakfast
• 8am: Morning Tour (TBD; example: Missisiquoi National Wildlife Refuge)
• Lunch Break
• 1pm: Afternoon Tour (TBD; example: North Hero State Park)
• 4:30pm: Carrier Pigeon Demonstration at Shore Acres
• 6:30pm: Group dinner at Shore Acres (Fixed menu with tax and gratuity included, but not alcohol)

Friday, May 16^th

• 6am: Early Bird Tour on property (optional)
• 7am: Breakfast
• 8am: Morning Tour (TBD; example: Great Blue Heron Rookery)
• Afternoon: Departure or continue to enjoy Shore Acres Inn and Restaurant and Bravo Zulu Lakeside Bar!
